Ed Wolan
Owner and Inventor

With decades of experience in the fitness industry, Ed Wolan is a seasoned expert and innovator. A former All-State swimming diver, karate champion, and instructor, Ed’s journey in fitness began in the 1970s when he was personally trained by the legendary Arthur Jones, the inventor of the Nautilus machines, and Dr. Ellington Darden, head of research at Nautilus. This foundation of knowledge and passion led Ed to open the first Nautilus gym in his hometown of Michigan, where he trained everyone from students to professional athletes.

Ed’s lifelong dedication to fitness didn’t stop there. After owning and operating multiple gyms in Michigan and Florida, he channeled his expertise into creating CARRYGYM, a portable gym machine designed for versatility and accessibility. His proudest achievement is the development of the wheelchair model, making fitness accessible to all. Today, CARRYGYM is used across the country, including in adapted physical education classes in California schools, proving that Ed’s commitment to fitness is as strong as ever.
